Blur's Damon Albarn will make his radio presenting debut this Saturday (October 5).

The frontman will be covering for regular presenter Dermot O'Leary on his BBC Radio 2 show, which airs at 3pm. The BBC states that Albarn will be playing music "from all over world", and will also be joined by actor Idris Elba as well as Paul Simonon of The Clash, Ken Dodd and a Pentecostal Choir.

A number of Albarn's Britpop contemporaries have already branched out into the world of radio, with Pulp's Jarvis Cocker hosting a popular show on BBC 6Music and former Oasis man Noel Gallagher previously sitting in for O'Leary

Blur's Alex James recently claimed that Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher are "like best mates now". When asked by Irish radio host Ray D'Arcy who ultimately won the on-going rivalry between Blur and Oasis, James replied: "Ironically Noel and Damon are like best mates now. They go off and smoke cigars together. I think we realised we we're all on the same side eventually."

Earlier this year, Albarn and Gallagher put two decades of Britpop animosity behind them when they performed together at London's Royal Albert Hall for a Teenage Cancer Trust gig.

This summer, Damon Albarn reportedly confirmed that Blur will record a new album following the release of his forthcoming solo LP.
