BLUR singer DAMON ALBARN has recorded a solo album - but he admits it may never be released.
Speaking backstage at the Festival International de Benicassim in Spain last weekend (August 8), Albarn told NME that he wrote the as-yet untitled album while touring in the US with Blur in July.
He said: "I recorded it all on a four-track in America in hotel rooms - I'm really pleased with it. It sounds very American and I don't know why."
But Damon admitted his recording commitments with Blur may hamper his chances of releasing the album.
He added: "I don't quite know how I'll put it out yet. I don't even know if I'll be allowed to, so I'll just have to wait and see. It's the lowest-fi record ever... it's not a commercial record."
Blur headline the Main Stage at the Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals at Reading Richfield Avenue on August 23 and Leeds Bramham Park on August 24.
