Blur's Alex James: 'Looks like I got my old job back'

Bassist admits to being as surprised as anyone by reformation

Alex James has said that Blur reuniting took him by surprise.

The original four members of the band announced yesterday (December 9) that they will play a gig in London's Hyde Park on July 3 next year.

Writing his weekly column in The Independent, James declared: "Looks like I've got my old job back. Out of nowhere, just when I was least expecting it."

He added: "Blur are going to do a show in Hyde Park one night next summer. Easy come, easy go. Whatever. Should be good though."

Meanwhile, the interview in full is available on UK newsstands nationwide now.
