Blur's Alex James has confirmed that the Britpop legends will play at the Brit Awards next year.

The bassist told XFM that the band, who will be honoured with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the ceremony at the O2 Arena on February 21, 2012, will definitely be performing at the event.

After revealing that he had recently caught up with the rest of the group to have "a Christmas cuppa" and discuss the Brit Awards, he said:
We're going to play, which is brilliant, it's like putting the Blues Brothers back together.

However, he stayed coy on the prospect of playing other live shows with Blur in 2012, adding: "Well, let's hope – heritage year next year. [Would] be good wouldn't it?"

Earlier this month (December 12), Alex James told NME that Blur would "meet up over Christmas" and "probably record again".
