Bob Dylan pays tribute to director Martin Scorsese – video

Singer performs 'Blind Willie McTell' at Critics' Choice Movie Awards

Bob Dylan paid tribute to film director Martin Scorsese at the Critics' Choice Movie Awards earlier this week (January 12) – scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to watch the video.

The singer, who teamed up with Scorsese for the 2005 documentary No Direction Home, performed a rendition of his 1991 track 'Blind Willie McTell' to honour the director, who picked up the 'Music + Film' award for both his work in film and music documentaries such as The Last Waltz and his Rolling Stones film Shine A Light.

Speaking after Dylan's performance, Scorsese paid tribute to the singer and the other musicians who'd inspired him, stating:

Such a great honour and an amazing performance by the great one, Bob Dylan. This award has a very special significance to me, so I'd like to begin with a special thank you to Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France.

He went on to add: "That was the music I used to hear when I was growing up in my apartment in New York, even before we had a TV, in the middle to late 40s."

The 'Chimes Of Freedom: Songs Of Bob Dylan Honouring 50 Years Of Amnesty International' album, which features covers of the singer's songs by artists such as Ke$ha, Adele, My Chemical Romance and Queens Of The Stone Age, is released on January 30.
