The world's largest single portrait of BOB DYLAN has been unveiled in DUBLIN to coincide with the music great's 60th birthday.

The eight-foot-by-four foot painting hangs two floors up from the street in the Apollo Gallery on Dawson Street in the city centre. The picture gives the impression that Dylan is staring down onto passers-by from behind his signature Rayban shades.

The painting is by William Mulhall, a veteran of the early 70s world who rose to prominence in the through artwork for Led Zeppelin.

A host of re-issues, tribute albums and special events are expected to mark Dylan's 60th birthday on May 24.
