BROWNED OFF!

Singer Bobby Brown has been arrested by customs in NEW YORK and taken to FLORIDA where he will face charges for an alleged probation violation.

According to US reports, Brown was arrested on Thursday (May 11) at Newark Airport in New Jersey, after returning from a family trip to the Bahamas. He was then transported to Fort Lauderdale jail in Florida, where a warrant for his arrest was issued last year.

His arrest can be traced back to August 1996, when Brown crashed wife Whitney Houston's car into a bush in Florida.

Following the incident, Brown was convicted of a drunk driving charge and sentenced to five days in jail. He was also placed on probation.

Last year, a warrant was issued for Brown's arrest after his probation officer claimed cocaine was present in a test of the singer's urine, a direct violation of his probation terms. Brown refused to be tested again, and a warrant for his arrest was then issued by the Broward County Judge.

The Miami Herald report Brown will face trial at the Broward County Circuit Court in Florida on May 22, and speculation is mounting that he could face a prison sentence.
