Bobby Brown, ex-husband of Whitney Houston, has checked himself into rehab.

Brown was arrested in March on drink-driving charges, and, as part of an agreement with prosecutors to avoid prison time, he has checked into an unnamed rehab facility to seek treatment.

Brown's lawyer Christopher Brown has issued a statement about his treatment, which reads as follows: "Mr Brown takes his agreement very seriously and admitted himself three weeks after concluding his honeymoon in Mexico during a break from the New Edition tour. Bobby is doing well and receiving services that comply with his agreement with the State of California.”

The singer, who has recently been touring again with his band New Edition, was arrested on March 26 of this year after he was pulled over for allegedly using a mobile phone while driving.

According to US gossip website Radaronline, Brown's wife Alicia Etheredge said that the singer was "doing great", but would not confirm his whereabouts.

Brown was married to Whitney Houston from 2002 to 2007 and endured a struggle with alcohol addiction throughout that time. He was jailed in February 2004 after being arrested over a parole violation for a previous drink-driving conviction.

He was also sentenced to 90 days prison in June of that same year for missing successive child support payments. That sentence was immediately suspended after Brown successfully made the required back payments.
