Bon Jovi singer Jon Bon Jovi cut short a promotional trip to the UK to fly back to his native New Jersey, one of the areas of the USA worst hit by Hurricane Sandy.

The rocker said he spent Tuesday (October 30) night worrying about his family, who were stranded by the storm, reports Metro. Bon Jovi said: "I really need to get back home having spoken to my wife and kids, who are stuck in New York. I need to be with my people. Thankfully, my family are safe."

The singer also painted a picture of life back home:

There is no power, water, the devastation is off the charts. The president is in my hometown in New Jersey because of the damage. It's like Armageddon. Where my children surf, 80 houses burnt down.

Elsewhere, the aftermath of the storm is causing chaos for touring bands. Yesterday, Future Of The Left put out a Facebook plea for assistance in getting back to the UK from the USA, where many airports are only just reopening. They wrote: "Plea/request. Anybody able to pick us up from DC airport and take us to Philly tomorrow about 5.30pm? All of our gear is trapped in NJ and our poor drummer in NYC. We cannot get flights into Newark or JFK despite our best efforts, including exciting offers of sex (mostly from jimmy)."

Bon Jovi are set to tour the world in 2013 as part of their 'Because We Can' tour, which will showcase tracks from their forthcoming new album 'What About Now', which is due in Spring 2013.

Bon Jovi will play:

Manchester Etihad Stadium (June 8)
Birmingham Villa Park (9)
Cardiff City Stadium (12)
Sunderland Stadium Of Light (13)
Glasgow Hampden Park (July 3)
