Bonnie Tyler to represent UK at Eurovision Bonnie Tyler Tickets
Veteran Welsh singer follows in footsteps of Engelbert Humperdinck and Scooch
The Welsh singer, famed for her 1983 UK chart-topping single 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', will perform in Malmo, Sweden on 18 May at the 58th Eurovision Song Contest. The song Tyler will sing at the contest is titled 'Believe In Me' and was written by Desmond Child and British songwriters Lauren Christy and Christopher Braide. Child has worked with Tyler throughout her career also wrote Ricky Martin's 'Livin' La Vida Loca' and 'She Bangs'. The song was recorded at Blackbird Studios, Nashville, Tennessee and mixed at Eargasm Studios, Santa Monica California by Justin Niebank.
Speaking to BBC News about competing in Eurovision, Tyler said: "I promise to give this everything that I've got for the UK! I am truly honoured and delighted to be able to represent my country at Eurovision, and especially with such a fabulous song."
The UK was represented by Engelbert Humperdinck at Eurovision in 2012 with the veteran crooner finishing second last and scoring just 12 points. Other artists to represent the UK in recent years include Scooch, Andy Abraham, Jade Ewan and boyband Blue.
