U2 bring first live-action, multi-camera digital 3-D feature to Cannes

U2 have filmed an innovative 3D feature, which will get its premiere in an afternoon screening at the Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (May 20).

The band shot the feature entitled ‘U2 3D’ while on their Vertigo tour in 2005. The movie was shot in locations in North and South America, and the band even performed in an empty stadium to facilitate close-ups.

Producers of the movie say it will not get a 2D or celluloid release.

As previously reported here, two of U2's tunes are in the running to be the campaign song for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

'Beautiful Day' and 'City Of Blinding Lights' are in the running to soundtrack Clinton's 2008 race for the presidency.

The former first lady has launched a contest on Hillaryclinton.com asking people to vote on which song she should use.

The full list of songs is:

U2 - 'City Of Blinding Lights'
U2 - 'Beautiful Day'
KT Tunstall - 'Suddenly I See'
Smash Mouth - 'I'm A Believer'
The Temptations - 'Get Ready'
Dixie Chicks - 'Ready To Run'
Shania Twain - 'Rock This Country!'
Jesus Jones - 'Right Here, Right Now'
The Staple Singers - 'I'll Take You There'

‘U2 3D’ will be screened at 12.30pm on Sunday in Cannes.
