Bono IS an oil painting

Portrait of U2 frontman up for sale

Bono IS an oil painting

U2 frontman Bono will go under the hammer (in art format) next month, when an oil painting showing him receiving an honorary knighthood will be auctioned in Dublin.

The artwork, painted by Irish artist David Nolan is expected to fetch as much as £2,000 when it is put up for offer at James Adam auctioneers.

The painting is based on a photograph taken by Julien Behal, who captured the moment the frontman accepted the honour, reports BBC News.

Bono was awarded the KBE medal in March in recognition of his contribution to music and his humanitarian work, most particularly in Africa.

Artist Nolan has been responsible for many paintings of high profile figures, including Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley.
