Boyzone's Stephen Gately dies at 33

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately has died at the age of 33.

Gately who was in Majorca, Spain, died in the early hours of Saturday morning (October 10).

His body was found by his partner Andrew Cowles at their apartment in Port d'Andratx around lunchtime.

Early reports suggest Gately choked on his own vomit after going clubbing on the island the night before.

Police sources suggest foul play is not currently suspected, although an autopsy is now due to take place.

"We're all absolutely devastated. I'm in complete shock," Boyzone manager Louis Walsh said in a statement. "I was with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet... He was a great man."

Ronan Keating and the other members of Boyzone are now planning to fly to Majorca today (October 11) to mourn with the singer's family and friends.
