Boyzone's Stephen Gately died of natural causes says post mortem

Boyzone singer Stephen Gately died of natural causes, a post mortem has concluded today (October 13).

Gately, who died early on Saturday morning (October 10) while in Majorca, was killed after suffering a pulmonary oedema, reports BBC News. The condition sees fluid building up in the lungs.

A Spanish judge has now authorised Gately's civil partner Andrew Cowles and his family to take the 33-year-old's body back to his native Ireland.

Gatley was found dead in the flat he shared with Cowles by a Bulgarian man, Georgi Dochev, who the couple had invited back after a night out.

A lawyer speaking on behalf of Gately's family today stated that no foul play was suspected in his death. "We are absolutely happy that there is no foul play," he told GMTV.
