Actor's production company Plan B will make the movie
Brad Pitt is set to star in the film version of Max Brooks‘ graphic novel World War Z, the author has confirmed.
MTV News reports that Pitt‘s production company, Plan B, first secured the rights to World War Z in 2007, after a bidding war with Inception star Leonardo diCaprio‘s production company Appian Way.
Pitt has been rumoured to be starring in the film before, which explains how to survive a zombie apocalypse, but his involvement has now been confirmed by Brooks.
“I can’t believe how cool Paramount has been to me and these projects, and how cool Plan B has been,” said the author.
The screenplay for the film, set for a 2012 release, was originally penned by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski but has since been rewritten by Matthew Michael Carnahan, who worked on the Tom Cruise film Lions For Lambs. Quantum Of Solace director Marc Forster is also attached to the project.
“I’m glad they took their time, and are trying to make the best zombie movie they can,” Brooks said, adding that the studio have optioned two of his other projects, The Zombie Survival Guide and The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks.
