Brandy sued by crash victim's family
The singer faces a £26 million lawsuit
Brandy is being sued for £26 million ($50 million) by the family of a woman killed in a car crash that involved her.
The parents of Awatef Aboundihaj have filed a wrongful death legal action in Los Angeles County Superior Court. It alleges that the death was caused by the singer’s “reckless driving”.
On Tuesday (January 30), the California Highway Patrol also recommended charging the singer with misdemeanour vehicular manslaughter. This carries a maximum of one year in jail and a fine of £500 ($1,000).
As previously reported, the California Highway Patrol has said that the crash happened on December 30 when the singer hit the back of Aboundihaj’s car when traffic suddenly slowed.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is now considering whether to prosecute.
