'Wilderness' will be available as a USB stick next month

Former Suede singer Brett Anderson has announced that he will release a new solo album, 'Wilderness', later this year.

However, fans who buy a ticket for Anderson's forthcoming gig at London's Mermaid Theatre on July 7 will receive a copy of the album on USB stick format.

The album will be released on conventional formats some time after this date.

The LP features a minimal set-up, with Anderson playing piano and guitar joined by cellist Amy Langley, it also features guest vocals from Emmanuelle Seigner on the song 'A Different Place'.

Both the collaborators will be joining Anderson for the London show.

littlejazz you are no doubt right in this opinion....i liked the first suede lp ( im older than i look) but since then his mullings on nuclear skies, trashy couples, electric skies, and being on the edge man nonsense has worn thinner than his hair........

Brett is still a great artist, he has just matured alot and changed his style, this is reflected in his acoustic guitar/piano/violin based music, britpop is over. His current music is just as strong in lyrics and vocals as ever.

I think this is going to be a very good album judging from his recent youtube video - He's good at the piano so the minimal set up will probably work well. I also think it's a great idea that the fans who are going to the gig will have a recording of the album.

I hope it's better than his last solo album, and I am a fan. But as MC619 points out, Britpop is over, he's now in his early forties, it's ridiculous to expect him to sound like he did in 1992.

Just listened to the full album on nme.com - I usually don't have the patience - and it's definitely worth a listen. Good on him for producing something so gentle and often beautiful when the industry (nor the public) are with him as they used to be. Think Five Leaves Left.

I got the CD. If you like his voice in an acoustic setting, in particular and luv songs in general, then give it a try. It has a soundtrack feel to it, and is slightly over 30mn short. The background imagery - nature in an urban setting - that he uses in his lyrics suits that music which feels sophisticated because of the piano and a cello and deceptively simple melodies.
