The Brian Jonestown Massacre praise Irish fans at Oxegen

The Brian Jonestown Massacre paid tribute to the Irish crowd during their afternoon performance today (July 12) at Oxegen Festival.

The psychedelic rockers, who were the subject of the infamous 2004 documentary 'Dig!', took to the stage for a short set which saw singer Anton Newcombe pick up a scarf bearing Irish colours and wrap it around his neck.

"I will be keeping that one," he told the crowd. "Thanks a lot."

The normally outspoken singer said very little throughout the show, as his seven-piece band reeled off a host of tracks from their mammoth back catalogue, including 'Whoever You Are' from 1997's 'Give It Back' and 'Yeah Yeah' from their most recent album 'My Bloody Underground'.

As the band left the stage, Newcombe kissed the Irish scarf before tambourine player Joel Gion thanked the crowd and said: "Thanks a lot, you have been great. Have a good time. I know I will."
