Bright Eyes join forces with LA Philharmonic

Yo La Tengo, M Ward kick off the night

Bright Eyes performed a career-spanning set and previewed some new material during their performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night (September 29).

Conor Oberst and company received a warm welcome from the massive crowd, who cheered loudly at Bright Eyes' most political lyrics.

Oberst looked casual in a black shirt and jeans, as did the usually formally attired Philharmonic who donned comfortable garb for the occasion.

The band ran through several tracks from their latest album, 'Cassadaga', including 'Lime Tree', which Oberst performed alone with his acoustic guitar in front of the orchestra.

The band concluded their 90-minute set with a preview of a new protest song called 'What Good Are You', on which Sleater-Kinney's Janet Weiss played maracas.

Earlier in the evening, openers Yo La Tengo and M Ward warmed up the crowd with strong sets.
