Mika wins the British Breakthrough Act award at the Brit Awards 2008

High-voiced singer takes home the gong after performing at the event

Mika was awarded with the British Breakthrough Act award tonight (February 20) at the Brit Awards 2008 in London, after performing a medley of his hits to open the show.

The singer screamed loudly as he accepted the award from actor Jonathan Rhys Myers. He thanked management and crew, his family, and all the fans who voted for him. He described is family as “my Mafia”.

“This is brilliant,” he said, before leaving the stage.

The acts also nominated for the award were: Leona Lewis, Klaxons, Kate Nash and Bat For Lashes.
