Brit Awards 2008 backstage special – Daily Ligger

Welcome to the Daily Ligger: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what. Today it’s a Brit Awards 2008 special.

Gossip from the Brits:

Alesha Dixon could barely get into the front door at the bash because so many people were bothering her for pictures. She got a bit cold, so got one of her “three or four” helpers to drape a coat around her.

Girls Aloud’s Cheryl Cole shouted “bring on the party” at the bash as she carried on living life to the full without her cheating husband, Ashley Cole (Daily Star).

…while her band-mate Sarah Harding knocked a glass of champagne over Andrew Lloyd Webber. His female friend demanded an apology from the singer (Daily Mirror).

Amy Winehouse tried to get the crowd to cheer for her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, currently in Pentonville Prison.

Billie Piper had a sneaky cigarette outside the back of the venue (Daily Mirror).

KlaxonsJamie Reynolds was so drunk on the red carpet he answered questions by playing air guitar (Daily Record).

Richard Hawley got well-wishing text messages from Billy Bragg and Jarvis Cocker during his car ride to the awards.

Sean Lennon was at the bash – but not to support his dad’s former bandmate, Sir Paul McCartney, apparently. He said he was there to support Mark Ronson (Daily Star).

Vic Reeves’ seemingly drunken slurring on stage, which led to presenter Sharon Osbourne shoving him off and swearing at him, was in fact caused by the autocue packing in (The Sun).

Beth Ditto’s plan from the start was to get drunk and sleep on her flight back to Arkansas. “I figure you can be drunk on the plane,” she said (Daily Star).
