Paul Weller wins Best Male Solo Artist award at the BRIT Awards 2009

Paul Weller has picked up the award for Best British Male at tonight's (February 18) BRIT Awards at London's Earls Court.

The former Jam frontman wasn't at the bash. Instead, Weller's award was presented to him by Adele via a video link.

Both artists seemed to find the occasion funny, as they couldn't stop laughing during the recording.

"Sorry I can't be there tonight," he finally said after managing to compose himself. "But thank you very much for this award. Have a good night."

The acts nominated for Best British Male were:

Paul Weller
Ian Brown
James Morrison
The Streets
Will Young
