I'm thinking they should give it to Elbow, it's such a good album.

Really think it will be Radiohead's year. Apart from the fact its the best album on the list, they have been overlooked on 4 or 5 occasions, most notably when New Forms beat OK to the prize. I think this year they will receive the award not just for In Rainbows, but effectively as a recognition of their career work.

I've never even heard of Burial. I'd go for British Sea Power or The Last Shadow Puppets personally, definantly not Adele, isn't she just a poor man's Duffy? Haha!

Ed, I have video evidence of you blowing goats.

I agree with Ed_209. If Adele, Estelle or The Last Shadow Puppets wins, it's the last straw for the award. It's disappointed more than usual the last two years.

More power to the Elbow or Radiohead for me. Two excellent albums!

Kid B, I agree about the first two but what planet are you on not to like The Last Shadow Puppets. There one of the greatest bands in years, I actually travelled up to Oxford with mates to see them, unbelievable band, Alex Turner is the best songwriter since Noel Gallagher.

Certainly not Estelle or The Last Shadow Puppets and Adele to a lesser extent. I think Elbow deserve it. British Sea Power if not them.

Elbow all the way. Last shaddow puppets are only in their because everyone has their heads shoved up alex turners over-rated lazy backside.

When did The Last Shadow Puppets play in Oxford? Not that that matters, they're shit. Radiohead and Burial both deserve the award, Radiohead for just creating the best album coming out of Britain in some time, and Burial because he is moving dub step forward and if he wins, it would be a huge acheivment for this new genre.

Laura Marling, I'm hoping. Gruff may be a legend, but Neon Neon's album isn't very good. Most likely, Elbow will take the prize. Radiohead seems too obvious.

burial better win it. that album is amazing and needs more media coverage to get more people to listen to it.

Soundedd.. what planet are YOU on to mock someone for not liking The last shadow puppets when you've never even heard of Burial. You clearly dont know enough about music to be judging people on their music taste.. Who cares if you went to Oxford to see them, people travel all over the world following RadioheadAlso Burial or Radiohead should win.. Fact of the matter is that they made the best albums along with Portishead.. And Alext Turner just wants to be Scott Walker. There should be an element of originality for the winner

Burial for me. Elbow a close second. Untrue is easily the most complete and atmospheric album I've heard this year, if not in the last few years. Truely the soundtrack of any urban late night, it's the sound of the streets, eerie yet equally beautiful. Mind you, the only decision they got right since Dizzee in 2003 is the Arctic Monkeys debut...

I don't have any of the albums, i usually have a couple of the nominees, this year's a bit shit really, i'd give it to elbow but then again who cares any more???

THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS TO WIN!

Kid B

Sep 10, 2008

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike The Last Shadow Puppets, but I don't think that they deserve to win. I think that the Mercury Prize judges have been swayed by popular opinion the last few years, and if they allow it to happen again, it'll lose a lot of credibility.
