British Sea Power are the subject of a new book, the first release on the publishing arm of their record label Rough Trade.

Written by front duo Yan and Neil Wilkinson's other brother and manager Roy Wilkinson, Do It For Your Mum is published on September 5.

The book is subtitled One Band, One Dad, One World War – A Story Of British Sea Power, Rock Dreams And Family Farce. It tells the story of the band from their inception in the small village of Natland in the Lake District, charting their rise to success and acclaim set against the backdrop of a band as a family business.

The boys' father Ronald is a constant presence throughout the book, described as a 'World War Two veteran and self-instructed expert on alternative rock from The Smiths to the Butthole Surfers."

Making appearances throughout the book is a diverse cast of characters including Ronnie Corbett, Nick Cave, Prince Charles, John Betjeman and Mavis from Coronation Street, alongside the band's musical peers The Strokes, The Libertines, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys.

British Sea Power release a new single ‘Georgie Ray’ on July 25.
