BRIT FOR BRIT?

After her alleged split with her bloke Justin Timberlake, will the Queen of pop turn to British royalty?...

Bookies are offering odds of 6/1 for PRINCE WILLIAM to become Britney Spears' new suitor, in the light of stories about her alleged split with *N SYNC's JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE.

However, William is not the only likely candidate. Another popular name to appear is beaten 'Pop Idol' finalist Gareth Gates, who at 16/1 rides behind Anson Mount, Britney Spears on-screen lover in her film 'Crossroads', who has been given odds of 10/1.

The online betting agency involved, ,sportingodds.com, is generously not discounting Prince William's brother Harry, putting the tearaway Prince in at 25/1. Chat show host Frank Skinner, who recently interviewed the princess of pop for his show, is installed as an outside bet at 50/1.

Sexual orientation has no bearing on bets taken as 'Pop Idol' winner Will Young, who outed himself as gay at the weekend, is given odds of 500/1 to become Britney Spears's beau.

However, those fancying a flutter may be advised to keep their hands in their pockets or wait for the Cheltenham Festival - the highlight of the national hunt season - which begins tomorrow (March 12).

Britney Spears's label Jive have said they think it unlikely she has split with Timberlake. The label will release an official statement later today.
