Even the pop princess can't topple 'Unchained Melody'...

GARETH GATES' cover of 'UNCHAINED MELODY' is set for a third week at Number One, despite a challenge from BRITNEY SPEARS.

Gates' single is currently well ahead in the midweek sales charts, outselling Spears' single 'I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman' at a rate of roughly two to one. Gates has sold just over 27,000 copies of 'Unchained Melody', compared to Spears' 13,700.

In other new releases, X-Ecutioners' single 'It's Goin' Down' is currently at Number Five, [a][/a]'s 'Soak Up The Sun' is at Number 11 and Stereophonics' 'Vegas Two Times' is set to be a Top Twenty hit at Number 14.
