Britney Spears charged in LA car crash
Pop star could face up to six months in jail
Britney Spears' month has gone from bad to worse. After a widely criticised performance at the MTV Video Music Awards, she was dropped by her management company and ordered by a judge to undergo random drug testing in the custody battle for her children.
Now the pop star has been charged with two misdemeanour counts -- hit-and-run and driving without a valid license.
Spears could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine if she is convicted, reports the Associated Press.
The charges stem from an accident that occurred in a Los Angeles parking lot last month. Paparazzi captured her on video steering her car into another vehicle, getting out to assess the damages to her own car, and then walking away.
Spears' arraignment is set to take place on October 10, but she reportedly will not be required to appear.
