The troubled pop star's promo for 'Gimme More' officially premieres today

Britney Spears' new video is set to debut on MTV today in the US after an unofficial version briefly made its way onto YouTube on Friday, before being taken down following a copyright claim by Sony BMG.

In the grainy clip for her comeback single 'Gimme More', directed by first time director Jake Sarfaty, Britney plays two roles – a blonde, drinking at a bar with two friends, and a brunette, who 'entertains' the trio by gyrating around a stripper pole in torn fishnets and a biker vest.

Filmed in a Los Angeles warehouse in July, the video's production was reportedly cut short when the singer abruptly left the shoot in tears.

The single from her fifth album 'Blackout', released on November 13, has gone straight to the top of the US charts, while Britney's label Jive has vowed to support her despite the media frenzy surrounding her personal life.

Jive representative Allan Mayer has issued a statement of support, saying: "Britney's a grown woman and she makes her own choices, and we respect that. But she's been at a disadvantage [without a consistent team], and obviously that makes it harder to cope."
