Emergency hearing in Britney Spears case

Her father and lawyer call for court intervention

A mystery emergency hearing was held yesterday in Los Angeles, the motion brought before Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz who placed Britney Spears under conservatorship.

The motion was brought by Spears’ father Jamie Spears and lawyer Andrew Wallet, both of whom are part of the conservatorship.

The singer was released from psychiatric care at the UCLA Medical Centre on Wednesday, and immediately resumed her habit of driving around Los Angeles accompanied by paparazzi.

Her parents opposed the release of the star, and said they believed their daughter’s life is at risk, calling for court orders to be obeyed. The court orders include a restraining order against Spears’ ‘manager’ Sam Lufti.

No details about yesterday’s hearing were released, but court spokesman Allan Parachini said that the motion was unopposed.

Conservatorships are enforced when a court decides a person is in not fit state to care for themselves or their affairs.
