Britney Spears' traffic case put on hold

Pop star is deemed unfit to resolve the matter

Britney Spears' ongoing traffic case was put on hold today (February 20) after a judge deemed her incapable of resolving the matter at this time.

Spears' lawyer told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge T.K. Herman that they "do not think she is qualified or capable of entering into a binding agreement," adding that they don't believe she's in a fit state to give a deposition or signed declaration.

Herman agreed and continued the misdemeanour case until March 20, reports the Associated Press.

This follows several months of erratic behaviour Spears has exhibited, resulting in hospitalisation for psychiatric evaluation earlier this month.

The traffic case involves an incident that occurred in a Los Angeles parking lot on August 6, 2007 in which Spears hit a parked car and left without notifying the owner. She was initially charged with hit and run and driving without a license, but the hit and run charge has been dropped.
