Parents' group objects to Britney Spears song

'If U Seek Amy' is 'indecent', they claim

A conservative parents' group is protesting Britney Spears' new single, 'If U Seek Amy', claiming it is indecent for US radio stations to broadcast it during peek hours.

The Parents Television Council, a non-profit organisation with a mission "to promote and restore responsibility to the entertainment industry", says that airing the pop star's song between 6:00am and 10:00pm "would violate the broadcast indecency law."

The organisation's president Tim Winter said that he believes saying the title phrase quickly sounds a lot like spelling out the F-word, and the song's theme is inappropriate for young listeners.

"There is no misinterpreting the lyrics to this song, and it's certainly not about a girl named Amy," he told Billboard.

The group's objections have not prevented radio stations from airing the third single from Spears' recent album 'Circus'. Several US top 40 stations are playing the song in heavy rotation, and it currently sits at Number 92 on Billboard's Pop 100 chart.
