Broken Bells cover The Beatles' 'And I Love Her' backed by video of Ringo Starr – watch

US duo joined in with 50th anniversary celebrations of The Beatles' first US trip

Broken Bells performed a cover of The Beatles' 'And I Love Her' with the help of a recording of Ringo Starr on The Late Show With David Letterman last night (February 4).

James Mercer and Danger Mouse, who released their new album 'After The Disco' this week (February 3), performed the song with a video recording of drummer Starr playing in the background. See above to watch the performance now.

Broken Bells were performing as part of the US TV show's weeklong tribute to the Fab Four, and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the iconic band's first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. The Late Show is filmed in the same New York studio as The Ed Sullivan Show.

Tonight (February 4) Sting will play 'Drive My Car' while Lenny Kravitz will perform on Wednesday. Sean Lennon will join The Flaming Lips on February 6 to perform 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'. More artists are to be announced during the week.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr recently reunited on stage last week at a recording of The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles. The show was recorded on January 27, one day after this year's Grammy Awards, and will be aired on February 9, exactly 50 years after the Beatles made their US television debut.

Dave Grohl, Pharrell Williams, Stevie Wonder, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran were among the artists who performed live on the night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with Tom Hanks, Sean Penn, Jeff Bridges, Eric Idle, Johnny Depp, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon in attendance.
