It's the Boss' eighth Number One album

Bruce Springsteen topped the US Billboard chart this week with his new album 'Magic'.

This is the eighth time the veteran rocker has seen his album debut at Number One - however, it sold far fewer copies than his previous albums.

'Magic', which hit US shelves on October 2, sold 335,000 copies in the week ended October 7, according to tracking firm Nielsen SoundScan.

It's his best sales sum since 'The Rising' started with 525,000 at Number One five years ago, reports Billboard.

'Magic' is the Boss' first studio recording with the E Street Band since 2002's Grammy Award-winning 'The Rising'.

Springsteen and the E Street Band launched a world tour last week, which continues with a show in his home state of New Jersey tonight (October 10).
