Premiership club spends £100,000 to control noise levels

Arsenal bosses have spent £100,000 in an attempt to control noise levels at Bruce Springsteen's upcoming gigs at north London's Emirates Stadium.

Organisers have installed a massive curtain to cut noise pollution to surrounding areas.

The maximum volume permitted by Islington Council for the two gigs tonight and tomorrow (May 30, 31) is 75 decibels, and the gig must end by 10.30pm (BST).

Tony Miller, the head of Highbury Fields Association, told The London Paper: "Some of our members are very worried that the sound levels will be intolerable."

Springsteen is the first artist to perform at the 60,000-capacity stadium.

God knows they are going to need it Dublin gigs could be heard in the City Centre even though the gig was a good 1.5 kms away.

75 decibels? That's about the level of a mobile ringtone. Imbeciles! Rock should always be turned up to 11!

Of all the great armies of rock fans, few can match the devotion of Bruce Springsteen's. For us it's not just catching just one show-it's about catching them all. Anyone who has experienced Springsteen in concert will testify that the bond between audience and artist transcends the usual adulation. Something magical, almost mystical happens. Some might describe it as spiritual-most definitely it is life affirming. It is in trying to nail this phenomenon that the beautiful hardbound For You has arrived.(www.Foryoubruce.com)Edited by Lawrence Kirsch and replete with an amazing welter of outstanding photographs, it's a mind-blowing collection of thoughts and stories from fans of every age and many nations, each explaining why Springsteen occupies such an important place in our hearts. Covering all four decades of Springsteen's career it is possibly the ultimate fanzine for it is the fans who have made the journey and whose words tell us as much about them as they do about Springsteen. The warmth and humanity that flows from every page is truly moving and provides a beacon of hope from which we can all draw strength in these hard times. Not a book to be read at one sitting but rather to revisit and enjoy over time.

Well he was too loud but for the fans in the Stadium! Some did boo regularly. I was there on Saturday night, after Friday night you'd have thought he would have got the message unless all he was interested in was the Corporate mob at the front.

The return of Stadium Rock well ! - Some of the audience clearly thought they were at 'The Arsenal' footie. Always a joy to see 'The Boss' live, great performance, unfortunate that the sound system was poor and at times just not loud enough, although for the classic tracks, they did crank it up. Shame on the local council for imposing such limit, and yes Tony Miller the gig finshed on time and we we're all home in bed and lights out by 11pm honest !!

Bruce was fantastic at both manchester and Arsenal... if you didn't enjoy it then don't waste the ticket next time let someone who appriciates the music and the band have the opportunity to go and watch something that will stay with you forever.
