Bruce Springsteen is set to play a free show this weekend to support Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Boss will perform at a rally on Saturday afternoon (October 4), playing an acoustic set on Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, between the city;s 20th and 22nd Streets.

The performance is to encourage voters to register to vote in the upcoming November 4 general election.

The performance is free, but people planning to attend should sign up for tickets in advance at the Barackobama.com.

Gates are at 2pm, the show starts at 3.30pm and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the general tickets, ‘preferred viewing’ tickets are also available, allowing ticketholders to get even closer to the stage.

Volunteers who visit a Campaign for Change office and sign up to help elect Obama have the opportunity to receive one of these tickets.
