Bruce Springsteen to headline Glastonbury: it's official

Organisers confirm The Boss will play this year's event

Bruce Springsteen will headline this year's Glastonbury festival, organisers have announced.

It has been rumoured for a long time that "The Boss" would play the event, which takes place between June 26-28, but his involvement has only been officially confirmed today (February 23) on Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk.

"I'm so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time," said festival chief Michael Eavis. "He's one of the all-time rock legends and I'm confident that this will be one of our best shows ever. He's also a Barack Obama supporter, which makes two headliners in a row who've backed the new President."

His daughter, organiser Emily Eavis, added: "I'm knocked out that we've managed to get Bruce to play. It's the icing on the cake of this year's bill, which I'm sure will take everyone's breath away when we announce the full details."

Tickets for this year's festival have sold out, although a limited number of returns will be sold from 9am (GMT) on April 5.

It is rumoured that Neil Young and Blur will be the other two Glastonbury headliners.

how dull and predictable

Sorry 'The Felony' but if you've ever been to Glastonbury you'll realise that its not the 3 headliners on the main stage that make up that festival, its everything else. The amount of new bands that play that festival and the feeling you get when you're there completely outways 3 bands, who gives a f*ck who headlines, just get wrecked and stop whining like a little girl!

How is that predictable? he's never played a UK festival before. Fair enough the rumours have been circulating for months, but nobody would've predicted this 12 months ago. Anything but predictable i think. The T in the park line up this year is what I would consider 'predictable'.

I'll maybe go and watch, but it's more likely I'll be over at one of the other stages when he's on.

Bruce Springsteen is a legend and is not at all dull or predictable, he will be a headliner act to remember in years to come-the felony doesnt have any taste in music

How can anyone judge the lineup yet?Springsteen, Lily Allen and some tiny band from Liverpool. Give them a chance, Springsteen is a legend.

@ The Felony: Dull and predictable? One of the greatest live performers there's ever been and you call it dull. Why don't you put on your grey knitwear, skinny jeans and white Ray-Bans, stick on some Ting Tings (yeah, she's DEFINITELY 25!) or Jack "Shit" Penate, and fuck off.

Wow - I feel bad for you Brits who have to endure THAT. What a hack. He definitely can't compare to The Verve headlining last year.
