Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, Psy nominated for Wembley Stadium's Greatest Moment Of 2013
Coldplay's Capital Summertime Ball performance won the honour in 2012
The musical acts are amongst 12 nominees for the honour, which also includes sporting events such as the Champions League final. Wembley Stadium's Greatest Moment Of 2012 was named as Coldplay's performance at the Capital Summertime Ball at the London venue.
Both The Killers and Bruce Springsteen headed up their own shows at the venue in 2013, whilst Psy appeared at the Capital Summertime Ball to perform 'Gangnam Style' and 'Gentleman'. Votes for this year's winner can be cast at Wembley's Facebook page. The winner will receive a Wembley Way Stone.
During The Killers' gig at the venue they performed the specially written 'Wembley Song'. Scroll down to watch a video. The Las Vegas band debuted the song at the London venue in June. Its lyrics trace The Killers' career "from Dave's apartment to Wembley," comically noting that early singles left us confused to find that the band were from Vegas "when you were sure it must be Sheffield or Camden". The song also listed bands that had played at Wembley previously, including Foo Fighters, The Who and Green Day, with Brandon admitting, "I said some shit, but that was the old me".
Speaking about 'Wembley Song', the band issued a statement which read: "We'd like to take a moment to sincerely thank those of you that made it out to the Wembley Stadium show... What a real pleasure it was to play for you all. We filmed some of the show and caught the Wembley song on tape. We took out all the bad shots of Ron to make us look cooler, too. Enjoy."
