Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman’s ‘Red’ to get a sequel

Actors set to return to active service in comic book-based film

A sequel to comic book-based action movie Red could be in the works.

Original screenwriters Jon and Erich Hoeber have been hired to pen a follow-up script to the 2010 movie, which starred Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich as retired CIA agents.

The first film, based on the Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner comic book of the same name, received a nomination at the Golden Globes this year for Best Motion Picture in the catagory of Comedy or Musical.

Collider.com reports that the sequel hasn’t quite been green lit yet though, with studio Summit waiting to see the Hoebers‘ script first.

The Hoebers have also written the script for Battleship, an upcoming 2012 science fiction naval war film based on the boardgame of the same name.
