Bullet For My Valentine cancel US tour dates

Family illness calls bassist away

Bullet For My Valentine have pulled out of the North American Taste Of Chaos tour.

The Welsh metal band played this weekend's dates alongside Avenged Sevenfold and Atreyu, but have pulled out of the remaining shows after bassist Jason James flew home to tend to his sick daughter.

The group pulled in their guitar tech in his absence, but said that after just one gig they realised they could not go on without James.

The band's singer and guitarist Matt Tuck said in a statement: "She's [James' daughter] very, very ill — she's in the hospital. I'm not gonna go into too much detail 'cause that's obviously his personal stuff — but she's very ill and he had to fly home straight away, which obviously is the correct thing to do, and he wants to be there by her bedside and hopefully she's gonna pull through.

"He didn't have any choice — he had to go home — and that was totally fine with us."

The band are still set to play their forthcoming Australian shows, starting in Brisbane on May 6.

The affected tour dates are:

Seattle WaMu Theater (15)
Vancouver PNE Forum (April 17)
Calgary Corral (19)
Regina Brandt Center (21)
Edmonton Northlands Agricom (22)
