Calvin Harris: 'I lied about losing new album at Heathrow'

Singer says he needed more time to work on the album

Calvin Harris has admitted that he lied about losing the master tapes of his new album at Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5 last year.

The singer revealed that he made up the fib last April in order to buy himself some more time to finish recording the LP.

"The first tactic of delaying the album was pretending that I lost it at Heathrow. That one worked pretty well," Harris told Popjustice.com.

The 'Dance Wiv Me' solo artist/producer said the idea was concocted by him and his sound engineer.

"I should make it clear that they did in fact lose our bags – that is fact," he explained. "But it was not true that the album was in them. I would never check a hard drive in luggage. So the thing about Heathrow wasn't so much a lie, as…well…an untruth."

Last April a spokesperson for Harris said the singer had been offered £750 by way of compensation for his lost bag.

"He has lost the only copy of the new album," the spokesperson said at the time. "It is a big cause for concern – months of work have gone into that."

'Last April a spokesperson for Harris said the singer had been offered £750 by way of compensation for his lost bag.' so uh, it's basically fraud.

"Oh.. what's at number one in the charts again?....". Just because the record buying public (who are largely idiots, spoonfed rubbish music by Cowell etc) managed to push a song to the top of the charts, doesn't mean it's good. Anyway, since when did the charts become any sort of barometer of decent music???

Eddie, old chum, before you headed off on your predictable, redundant and patronising rant about the poor taste of the lowly "record-buying public", maybe you could have spared the time to actually read Steffi's post and the context. Steffi was using the fact that the song is number one to rebut the point that "no-one gives a fuck" about Calvin Harris. Obviously, if he's number one, someone gives a fuck. No-one said whether he was good or not. And even if they did, that would not make them an idiot. An interesting comparison would be your own case, where your tirade clearly marks you out as an idiot.

Thank you very much CurtainJerker for actually reading my post :) I'm not the biggest Calvin Harris fan at all but like I said previously, some people must give a fuck if people are buying his records.Yeah the charts aren't half as important as they used to be but they still show the trends in the music. As for sayin they're full of shit.. well you can't get more close minded and wrong about that really. Most of the bands on this friggin NME website are in the charts. Yeah there's a lot of commoditised shite in there, but you're missing out on some good music if you're gonna write it off like that.

Regardless of chart action, Calvin HARRIS' first album was indeed very good.
