Calvin Harris, Little Boots and Tinchy Stryder were forced to abandon a free concert in Birmingham at the weekend after 60 people were injured.

The gig at Millennium Point, which was due to mark the switch-on of the city's Christmas lights, was pulled on Saturday (November 14) during JLS' performance.

The free show was swamped by more than 20,000 fans, causing barriers to give way, leaving four people needing hospital treatment and several others injured. The boy band said they were "gutted that everyone's day was spoilt".

Writing on JLS' official website, jlsofficial.com, band member Marvin Humes wrote: "We are devastated to see what happened at the BRMB event in Birmingham. We are so, so sad to see that people got injured at the gig.

"It should have been a great gig with others artists like Alexandra Burke and Calvin Harris. We just hope that everyone who was injured has a speedy recovery."

Other acts that had been scheduled to appear as part of the five-hour event included Natalie Imbruglia, Chipmunk, Girls Can't Catch, The Saturdays, Noisettes, Taio Cruz and Pixie Lott.
