Calvin Harris defied sound problems to play a homecoming show in front of a packed crowd at the T In The Park festival tonight (July 9).

The Dumfries-born producer/singer came on stage in the King Tut's Wah Wah Tent as the crowd chanted Tartan Army song 'We'll Be Coming', launching straight into 'The Rain'.

Halfway through 'Colours', however, the singer was left annoyed when all the sound cut out apart from the drums. Shaking his head, Harris walked off stage as the audience began to boo.

After several minutes, during which many fans walked out of the tent, the sound was restored and the Scot came back on to apologise profusely and carry on with the remainder of his set.

"I can only apologise on behalf of the PA - I can only apologise," he told the audience, who were still booing. "Wow! Nevermind, let's carry on, yeah?"

Delphic also suffered sound problems over on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Futures Stage earlier in the evening. The band took to the stage over ten minutes later than they were scheduled to due to a prolonged soundcheck and uncomfortable volume levels. When the Manchester trio did eventually come out, it was to a false start. The opening notes of 'Doubt' played as they appeared, but as the band took their respective positions it transpired that they were still unhappy with the sound.

"Keep on cheering," said singer James Cook whilst stroking the Delphic logo across the back of his white shirt. "We're going to try that again." After some booing from the crowd, the band returned, Cook saying: "Let's pretend that never happened." They then proceeded to play 'Doubt' in front of an array of photography light umbrellas, followed by 'Red Lights'.

They were followed on the Red Bull Bedroom Jam Futures Stage later in the evening by Echo And The Bunnymen. Despite the tent being one of the most dimly-lit on site, frontman Ian McCulloch still wore his customary dark shades throughout, as the band ploughed through their back catalogue, playing the likes of 'The Killing Moon' and 'The Cutter'.

McCulloch said little during the gig, though he still had the appreciative crowd in raptures by kicking a mock-football made of a huge, rolled up white cloth into the audience at one point.

Meanwhile, over on the NME/Radio 1 Stage, Black Eyed Peas played an energetic set that fused an elongated DJ slot from Will.I.Am and a solo performance from Fergie.
