BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw to release compilation album

BBC Radio 1 breakfast show DJ Nick Grimshaw has announced details of a compilation album entitled 'The Nixtape', which is due for release on September 22.

The album will feature a curated selection of dance tracks, inspired by Grimshaw's regular radio segment of the same name where listeners call in to suggest songs for a mixtape.

The final tracklisting for the release has not been announced yet, however artists confirmed include Calvin Harris, OutKast, Disclosure, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy. Clean Bandit, Groove Armada, Dizzee Rascal, Missy Elliott, N*E*R*D, Nelly and The Notorious BIG will also feature.

Speaking of the forthcoming LP, Grimshaw stated, "I'm so excited to release an album of all my favourite songs and I can't wait for everyone to hear it."

This comes after recent reports that the Breakfast Show has lost half a million listeners in the first quarter of 2014. Falling from 6.29 million to 5.78 million, the show has suffered a loss of 510,000 from the end of 2013.

Grimshaw has, however, increased his younger audience by 130,000. His initial appointment, which saw him take over the show from Chris Moyles in September 2012, was intended to bring a younger audience to the station.

Nick Grimshaw's contract to present the prestigious slot has since been extended for a further two years.
