Calvin Harris named highest paid DJ in the world for second year running

Calvin Harris has been named the highest paid DJ in the world for the second year in a row.

The Scottish DJ topped Forbes' Electronic Cash Kings for a second year running after it was revealed he had earned $66 million (£39,800,000) in the past 12 months. Last year, he earnt $46 million (£27,700,000).

Harris, who has played more than 50 gigs at festivals and clubs in the last year, told the publication: "The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years. I happened to be in the right place at the right time."

David Guetta follows Harris at number two on the list with $30 million (£18 million) while Tiesto, Aviici and Steve Aoki make up the rest of the top five.

The list takes into account earnings from live shows, merchandise, endorsements, record sales and "external business ventures", from June 1 2013 to June 1, 2014. The top ten earners on the list have a combined total of $268 million (£161,300,000), up 11% on last year.
