Carl Barat plays debut UK solo gig

Former Libertine plays a show in Wakefield

Carl Barat played his debut UK solo headline show in the Wakefield Escobar last night (March 6).

Barat, formerly of The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things, played songs by both bands as part of the set.

The frontman had also played a secret solo show at Glastonbury last summer and had supported Glasvegas in the USA in January.

Songs Barat played as part of his set included 'I Get Along', 'What A Waster', 'Deadwood', 'Bucket Shop' and 'Time For Heroes'.

He plays again at the same venue tonight. See Escobarwakefield.co.uk for more information.

If the Libertines don't get back together, this tit will be still be playing the same old tunes from Up the Bracket. How long can he keep living off material from an average album?

Up the Bracket an "average album"?! You're either having a laugh or know nothing about music, both Libertine's albums were amazing. BTW "What a Waster" and "Bucket Shop" weren't on that album. Carlos Barat is nothing short of a legend.

Too right stevemac. Up the Bracket - an average album? Hahaha, surely there isn't any other album in the last 10 years that has meant so much to so many people.

Barat is a clear legend in anyones books, him and pete made more of an impact on the music industry with their 2 album than Oasis have with their whole back catalogue, not that im slagging oasis im a huge fan, but every song off Up the bracket and The Libertines were pure gold

I do believe that Is This It by The Strokes, has had a bigger influence than UtB.. Great albums both of them though

More of an impact than Oasis on the music industry..........Don't make me laugh........go out and ask 100 people on the streets to name an Oasis song and a Libertines song......they will struggle with the latter........Oasis were the biggest thing to happen to the music industry since the Beatles.......even if you don't like them you cannot deny that fact.

To say the Libertines have more influence and importance than Oasis is laughable. Two half decent albums. Thats yer lot. No more no less. Its just goes a long way to say how limited the music scene is nowadays that a junkie such a PD and an slightly above average musician such as CB are lauded in the manner they are. Legends if you are a teenager with tight jeans and silly hair and think The View 'have it man' - twats to the rest of us.

Supertin - "Oasis were the biggest thing to happen to the music industry since the Beatles.......even if you don't like them you cannot deny that fact." That is crap dude!! Oasis are a big band, i admit that. But up there with the Beatles? I think not....

mvickers03 i think you'll find What A waster didn't appear on the original album so the fans that were into them from the start didn't get the re-issue with bonus track.

supertrin, unless you're in the US, in which case UTB came standard with what a waster and mockingbird.
