Cat Power covers 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' for Apple advert - watch
Singer's festive cover soundtracks Apple's new TV commercial
The singer's take on the well-known song, which was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane and later made famous by both Judy Garland and Frank Sinatra, is used to soundtrack Apple's Christmas commercial. Although the TV spot only features a snippet of Power's cover, an extended version has also been released which features the whole song.
Cat Power, real name Chan Marshall, released her ninth studio album 'Sun' in 2012. The record was her first since 2008's 'Jukebox' and her first to feature all-original material since 2006's 'The Greatest', and she also made a cameo appearance on Willis Earl Beal's 2013 LP 'Nobody Knows'.
In May of this year, the singer pledged to quit the US due to the nation's politics after a bizarre rant she posted online. The all-caps post suggested a new method of government for the US, proposing a tripartisan (three party) system and also criticised the "powers that be" for using the symbolism of liberty to "rape this earth with its lies, protection of wealth, and vicious slayings".
The post ended with Marshall tagging 30 Twitter users, including Daft Punk, model Cara Delevingne, U2, Beyonce and TV host Ellen Degeneres.
