Fan falls from balcony at Charlatans gig The Charlatans Tickets
The incident occurred in Wolverhampton
A Charlatans fan fell from a balcony during the band’s set at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
Concert goers described seeing the man fall 20ft “like a stone” during the show on Monday night (April 24), which was attended by 2,000 people.
According to police, the man from Walsall had been dancing on the upper tier when he toppled over the safety barrier.
The incident occurred at 10.15 pm, but unaware of what had happened, the band completed the remaining 25 minutes of their set.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, Trevor Ford, said that the man was taken to New Cross Hospital. Though in a lot of pain, he was not seriously injured.
Issued to NME.COM, a statement from The Charlatans said: “The band are really upset that an accident like this would happen at one of their gigs and they wish him all the best in his recovery.”
One fan at the gig, Donna Hill, told locla newspaper the Express & Star: “It looked as if he landed on his head because when he first hit the ground his legs were up in the air.”
A security review took place yesterday (April 25) at the venue.
