Written in Australia and recorded in Italy with producer Eric Feldman, ‘The Deep Blue’ was made completely independently and will come out on Hatherley’s own label Little Sister.

Hatherley, who quit Ash last year, said of the album: “If I was going to make another album after leaving the band,” she says, “then I knew it had to be a million times better than ‘Grey Will Fade’. It was a little bit like, ‘Pack your bags, you’re going on an adventure’. It was the best thing I could have done.”

“The thing I’m really proud of is it’s an album, from start to finish,” added Hatherley. “It really conveys a mood. It’s got a particular vibe to it. It’s a record, in an age of downloading songs on their own.”

Tracks include ‘Be Thankful’, ‘Roll Over (Let It Go)’, ‘Dawn Treader’ and ‘Wounded Sky’.

‘The Deep Blue’ has already been preceded by a digital single ‘Behave’, which hit online stores in December. A full-scale single, ‘I Want You To Know’, will follow, with a release date to be confirmed.
