Cher vows to support daughter Chastity over sex change
Singer talks of her love for son Chaz Bono
Cher has issued a statement outlining her full support to her daughter Chastity Bono who recently announced she underwent surgery to become a man, changing his name to Chaz Bono.
Though Cher briefly fell out with Chaz when he revealed he was a gay 20 years ago, the singer is now adamant she will stand by her son, with whom she recently celebrated his 40th birthday in Las Vegas.
"I respect the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny and although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding," she said in the statement issued to People Magazine.
She added: "The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child."
