Cheryl Cole is attempting to channel her hurt and anguish at her treatment by the producers of the US version of the X Factor into new songs, according to reports yesterday (June 5).

The singer, who was removed from the show's judging panel by producers last month and allegedly turned down the chance to rejoin the UK version, is now said to be focusing on her third studio solo album.

The Daily Mirror reports that Cole is set to travel to Los Angeles in the next few days to enter the studio with songwriter Wayne Wilkins, who she worked with for hits 'Fight For This Love' and 'Promise This'.

A source said: "Cheryl’s time and energy is going into her music and writing songs. She is putting her emotions down on paper. A lot of the tracks she writes are likely to be about how she is feeling right now."

It continued: "She wants to prove to everyone that she’s a great pop star and is in control of her own destiny and doesn’t need to rely on others."

The Girls Aloud singer is now said to be managed by the Black Eyed Peas main man after falling out with Simon Cowell over the X Factor debacle.
